PETS IN THE CEREMONY?
A question that I often get asked is "can my dog be part of our wedding ceremony?" Everybody who knows me will tell you I am an animal lover. I personally have no problem with your fur baby being the ring bearer or best man/woman or flower girl/boy.
However, if you are having a ceremony indoors, such as at a hotel please check with the wedding coordinator at the venue. Another thing to remember is your pet might find the day a bit stressful. Lots of strange people, noises, and smells, so think ahead about your pet’s personality. Some might just flop on the way down the aisle with the rings and refuse to budge. This happened at a wedding a colleague of mine was doing. Dear Rex lay down in the aisle and snored loudly through the ceremony to the amusement of the guests. Some couples go even further and have a whole dog-themed wedding, and write their vows along this theme. The vows may go something like this.
"I promise to love you always, to be your faithful and devoted companion. To be always by your side. To be patient kind and loyal. To walk with you through life. To keep you safely protected and watched over. To be a warm shoulder to cry on in the bad times and a friend to share all the good times, I promise this all the days of our lives" So as I said before, it is your wedding ceremony. So if you have any ideas for a ceremony please contact me to discuss it, and I would be delighted to help you make your dream come through.
